Article Builder is content generation tool from Jonathan Leger, which promises quality content at a push of a button. The promise of quality content at a push of a button was very tempting for me and there are tons of reviews praising the product, so I decided to give it a try at $297/year to see if it’s as good as it sounds.
How Article Builder works
Article Builder essentially is a huge database of spun PLR articles on various topics. You can see complete list of topics here. The database is built with categorized titles, introductory paragraphs, tips and conclusion paragraphs. Every time you press button “Build an Article” new article is generated by pulling together opening paragraph, tips and conclusion from various PLR articles in the same category. Considering that every sentence and paragraph is spun, in theory, you should get pretty unique article as the end result, Jonathan Leger mentions at least 75% uniqueness in his sales video.
Quality of the articles
Each text snippet in the Article Builder database is written and edited by humans, but since each article is generated from dozens of spun text snippets that are pulled together, it doesn’t really make sense as it doesn’t have the context; it is simply a bunch of paragraphs mixed together. If you expect to generate quality articles using Article Builder that you can post on your REAL blog or website, it is not going to happen, as any human would quickly recognize it as meaningless bunch of tips that are thrown together without any underlying idea or story. See examples of Article Builder articles here.
Article Builder for auto blogging
I have small network of auto-blogs that scrape and mix content from different sources, it is not machine-generated, meaningless junk as you might think. Every blog actually makes sense within its own niche and you would never think that it is an auto-blog if you saw them. Since Article Builder has option to auto-post to WordPress blogs, I was thinking about using it to add more relevant content to my blogs. Basically you configure an auto-posting job – choose topic of your articles, average number of words and schedule how often you want articles to get published (up to 3 times per day, or as little as once a month). Plus you can configure Article Builder to automatically add relevant images and videos and weave affiliate links to top selling ClickBank products. Idea is great – who wouldn’t want to get fresh unique content auto-posted to their blogs while they sleep. Have couple hundreds of these autoblogs in all kind of niches, add some ads, affiliate links and retire to Hawaii in a couple of months 🙂 The only thing is, that there are at least couple hundreds of other smart Internet marketers doing the same thing using the same Article Builder’s database as a source, which brings us to the next question – “how unique are the articles produced by Article Builder?”.
How unique are the articles produced by Article Builder?
Jonathan Leger mentions in Article Builder sales video that every generated article is 75% unique or more and he was only able to find 2 copies using Copyscape premium search, maybe that was the case when he just opened Article Builder for general public, but it is not the case anymore. With hundreds of marketers using Article Builder database and posting to thousands of auto blogs you will find pieces of your articles all over the web. I am not saying that you will find exact duplicates of your article on other websites, but you will find small pieces like 3-15% on dozens of other sites.
See for yourself, I have generated 3 articles (from 400-700 words) for each of the popular categories in Article Builder and posted them on this page so you can check how unique they are using Copyscape, TheBestSpinner built-in duplicate checker or using any other duplicate checker.
After you find other websites that publish articles from Article Builder database, just browse through their posts and read some articles. Do you think that real human would actually read those articles and would ever come back to that site again?
Article Builder Problems
Articles Quality
While individual paragraphs and text snippets produced by Article Builder are written and edited by humans, whole article generated from dozens of spun text snippets doesn’t really make sense as it doesn’t have any context, underlying idea or story and real humans won’t read them.
User Engagement
Because real humans won’t likely read more than few paragraphs of any article generated by Article Builder which means that your user engagement metrics will suffer – high bounce rate, low number of pages/visit, short avg. visit duration time etc… Nowadays user engagement metrics are important part of ranking in Search Engines, and if visitors immediately bounce from your website it doesn’t do any good for your rankings.
Duplicates
With over 3000+ marketers using Article Builder and some of them posting to hundreds of auto-blogs daily you will find small snippets from your articles all over the web, but is not the main problem. Articles from large news websites or popular blogs get republished all over the web and everybody gets their “fair” share of traffic. But it is rather duplicates combined with 2 factors mentioned above (articles quality and low user engagement) will give you hard time ranking blogs that are using Article Builder articles.
What Article Builder Is Good For?
Is Article Builder complete waste of money? No, articles are indexed by Google and you can use them for SEO purposes in the places where you don’t care that much about quality of the content, i.e. article syndication services like Unique Article Wizard, SYNND, Article Samurai, Article Marketing Robot etc… You can drop super spun article into any service that support nested spinning add you links and syndicate variations of that article to hundreds of blogs getting backlinks to your sites. Back in the days I used outsource workers to write articles for article syndication services and it takes about 1 hour to produce and add spin variations to 350-400 words article and this is just for basic spins, quality articles with nested spinning takes much longer to produce. Article Builder super spun articles are capable of producing hundreds thousands of variations that will get indexed by Google so if you use any article syndication service it can be a huge time-saver. You can actually download entire article with all the spintax formatting {|}, but keep in mind that Article Builder doesn’t have super spun content available for all categories.
The Best Spinner Integration
Article Builder is partially integrated with another product of Jonathan Leger – The Best Spinner. You can generate articles from Article Builder database right from within The Best Spinner using “Publish” tab, but it has some limitation compared to standalone version of Article Builder.
Here are key difference between TBS Content Generator and Article Builder, Article Builder has:
- More topics.
- More content within each topic.
- Title generation.
- Introduction and Conclusion paragraphs.
- The ability to generate multiple articles in one click.
- The ability to store your jobs and rerun them with one click.
- Encoding output articles to pass Copyscape.
- Auto-posting to WordPress blogs
- Inject content into existing articles
- Download full documents for super spun articles with spintax {}
- Weave affiliate links
If you already own The Best Spinner, I would recommend you to check out “Content Generation” feature as it may be good enough for you to quickly generate base content for spinning. Also it may be the option if $297/year seem too expensive for you, as The Best Spinner is much cheaper – $77/year.
Conclusion
If you plan to rank your websites in Search Engines using articles from Article Builder – don’t buy it, better spend your money on good outsource worker that can write quality articles. On the other hand those articles are great for link building purposes. If you use any article syndication service that support nested spin articles you can use Article Builder super spun content for SEO – building backlinks to your web properties, it is much faster that writing articles from scratch.
